Lakeland ES

Hello Lakeland Family!!!

I am super excited to be at Lakeland Elementary and can’t wait to meet all my new students!! I will try to update this as much as possible, but for now, here is a little about me…

I graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2007, from 2007-2012 I was the high school art teacher at Life School Oak Cliff. In 2012, I enrolled in the Art Education graduate program at the University of North Texas and accepted a new teaching position at Alex Sanger Elementary (East Dallas). In December 2015 I graduated with my Masters in Art Education and got engaged! This summer I married and moved to Lewisville, I am ready for the school year to start and to see how my new life in Lewisville blossoms!

I LOVE everything art! Being an art teacher combines two my my passions, art and helping children grow and explore independently. Other than my professional passions, I also love family. I have two beautiful nieces and two ridiculously funny nephews, after this summer I now have added three awesome stepchildren to my plate! I enjoy being outdoors, laughing, watching movies, and being active in my community.

Lastly, I create my art program around Choice-Based Art Education. Basically, I teach using centers and allowing students to choose how they want to create within the realm of the lesson presented. I am a firm believer in providing students with choice and helping them understand that choice is a responsibility not to be taken lightly.
